Help bring Regenerate Home!

Click here to join the adventure.

A small group of young people from the Regenerate projects in SW London and a group of mentors and supporters are taking on an epic cycle challenge and we are looking for people to join us on route! We’re looking for people to join us in Brighton to bring the team home in style!

The ride will bring people together from different walks of life, and everyone who takes part will learn to push through their barriers, grow in self-belief, resilience, broaden their horizons and grow a sense of teamwork and camaraderie. The Journey will allow the team to see that anything is possible and inspire young people from our community to dream big dreams.

The trip aims to support the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals and bring people together to raise money for Regenerate’s youth work.

‘Tour’ Dates:

  • Brighton 2 London

A one day ride to bring the group home! Sunday 6th August (50 spaces available)

Awareness and money raised

We aim to raise awareness of the work of Regenerate and have an ambitious target of £50,000 This will help fund the running of Regenerate youth, mentoring and employment projects that will create support and opportunities for hundreds of young people that are overcoming disadvantage and poverty.

Regenerate is aiming to engage a total of over 5000 young people in the next year. We want to engage 250 regularly in our youth club, sports and mentoring projects and create employment opportunities in our social enterprise for more than 30 young people who face barriers into employment.

We hope to raise the funds by recruiting people to join the cycle ride and sharing our just giving donation link with friends and family.  We hope to attract press attention, gain some corporate sponsors, as well as large donations from trusts and individuals.  We will be inviting BBC London news to feature the ride as well as printed press, national and local, the Chelsea FC fanzine, Battersea Power stations coms team and promoting on all participants social media channels.

The Practicalities

Support vehicles:
Regenerate will provide support vehicles that will follow the route, setting up for lunch and drinks stations along the way.

Food:
The support team will provide breakfast and lunches each day and a cooked meal in the evenings (or £10 contribution towards your dinner when we eat out).

Travel:
Participants will need to arrange their own travel to the start points of the ride and any accommodation prior to the ride starting.

Fitness and bike:
It is essential to train and get used to cycling on roads before the ride.  To do a ride like this requires a level of fitness, to be on your bike for between 5 and 8 hours a day and you will need to have your own road worthy bike.  Having said that, it’s not a race and we have a support vehicle alongside if the hills become too much!

The Route:
We have planned the route using the ‘Kamoot’ app. The app has a setting for cycle touring that uses algorithms of routes that are recommended and avoiding big roads where possible. The route will be shared with all riders to download on smart phones and follow, and we encourage cycling in groups.

Fundraising:
We expect all Rome 2 Home cyclists to fundraise and get sponsored for their ride. Regenerate will support with this by providing comms tips and a just giving page that you can personalise and share.

Signing up:
To sign up for any of the rides, please fill out an online form, and we will then be in touch with further information and to confirm your place.
