We cycled 1000 miles!
1000 miles, 10 countries, and despite feeling like our toes and fingers would fall off on the journey – a whole lot of Feel Good!
An Epic Journey
We rode into Venice on Sunday 25th May, feeling so good at what a difference we’ve made and a life changing experience we had.
This 10-country challenge took us over 1000 miles through England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and finally, Italy.
It was a ride of ups and downs, taking us through every emotion, terrain and climate you could think of. But there were many beautiful moments of camaraderie and peace, and bonds for life were formed between this unlikely crew of 25 staff, supporters, alumni, and current beneficiaries, as they cycled together over the 2 weeks of the trip.
The hardest thing we’ve ever done
It truly took everything in us to complete, and saw us take on one of the hardest challenges we’ve ever faced. On Thursday, we were faced with a mind-blowing obstacle, and one of the hardest things any of us have ever done. As if a 6500 foot climb up and over the Alps wasn’t tough enough, we took on a 6500-foot climb in non-stop rain, sleet, and freezing temperatures. None of us could have predicted those conditions, and nothing could have prepared us for it. It took everything in us to push us on.
But we made it!
The support we received, and the reminder of why we’re doing this challenge, was our motivation through.
All the money raised will create life changing mentoring opportunities for young people. Our mentors offer a safe space for young people to overcome the challenges they’re facing, build confidence, and work on key life skills such as self-management and the ability to plan and achieve their goals. We do this within the community, as well as with every young person who comes through our Feel Good programme.
Thank you so much for your support, donations and kind words along the way – we couldn’t have done it without you.
