Breaking down barriers to employment this Christmas
Did you know that each 16-18 year old who spends some time NEET will cost an average of £56,000 in public finance costs over the course of their life? However, many of the young people we work with are facing barriers to obtaining employment despite many attempts to gain it. In just a few weeks’ time, you can have your Christmas donation DOUBLED, and help us break down these barriers – offering young people the chance to thrive and reach their full potential.
Through our employment and mentoring service, we are building young people’s skills and getting them onto ladder. This means over the next year alone, our programme will not only change lives, but could save the tax payer over £2.8million!!

What is The Big Give?
The Big Give is a match funding platform that offers a unique opportunity for you to double the difference you can make in the world for the causes close to your heart.
Their Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, and takes place over 7 days in December; during the week of 2nd-9th December.
Every penny raised on the platform during this week will be doubled, and we have an ambitious target of £30,000 to raise in donations, which will then be doubled to a huge £60,000 very generously by our champion and pledge funders; The Childhood Trust and the East End Family Trust.
This is a big challenge, but every penny is so essential to our work, and you can help us get there.
What are we raising money for?
Every penny raised from this campaign counts, and will go towards our post-16 employment offering.
Why? Because unemployment at a young age increases the likelihood of being unemployed and welfare-dependent and/or involved in anti-social activity later in life. However, many of the young people we work with are facing barriers to finding and retaining employment. Many of these are due to interconnected circumstances in their lives that they have had no control over or support for, including, for example:
Deprivation,
Special Educational Needs;
Mental Health Challenges;
Exposure to/involvement in crime.
With the support of our Feel Good programme – which provides mentoring, employability training, and employment contracts – young people are building confidence, skills, and experience, and thriving despite the barriers they have faced.
It’s vital that we are able to grow this work, and the money raised will help us do this, so that we can support as many at-risk and in need young people as possible.
